South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler got all the pent-up negative feelings from Tennessee fans throughout Saturday night’s 41-20 road loss. Rattler, who derailed the hopes of a College Football Playoff berth last season for the Volunteers with a six-touchdown performance in a 63-38 upset, was the target of an end-of-game chant from fans.
“F--- you, Spencer” was the chant from Volunteers fans, according to Zac Al-Khateeb of USA Today’s Knox News.
And in the postgame presser after the loss which moved South Carolina to 2-3 on the season, Rattler was quick to fire back with his own response, calling this game Tennessee’s “Super Bowl,” per WLTX’s Chandler Mack.
"I must be doing something right if they keep saying that the whole night," Rattler said. " If you ain’t got haters, you ain’t popping. ... Credit to them, they did a great job. It was like their Super Bowl tonight, so congrats to them."
Rattler was never able to get anything going through the air against Tennessee in this game, completing 24-of-35 passes for 169 yards and one interception. He also tacked on 11 rushes for 19 yards and one score on the ground.
Tennessee was led by an impressive rushing attack which totaled 238 yards on the ground in the win, with Jaylen Wright racking up 123 yards and one score.
