South Carolina Holds No.1, Washington Returns to Basketball Rankings

The stage was set. Amidst the hustle and bustle of exams and holidays, the world of women's college basketball was alive with the sound of electric competition. The resounding victories, unexpected upsets, and climactic faceoffs last week continued to keep fans on the edges of their seats.

Kicking off the coronation was the unstoppable force known as the South Carolina Gamecocks. Like a seasoned monarch, they retained their No. 1 position in The Associated Press women's basketball poll, basking in the unanimous adulation of all 36 votes from the national media panel. Their scepter of victory was strengthened further by the triumphant rout of last week's game, the only one they participated in.
