One of the main concerns raised in a recent assessment of South Ayrshire Council was the need to improve the way it changes services.
The Best Value Audit saw the Accounts Commission criticise a number of council actions, including business change and service transformation.
Now South Ayrshire Council says it is not only on track to address criticisms, but has added some of its own ‘success indicators’.
Councillors on the service and performance panel will hear that 86 percent of the recommendations made by the Accounts Commission were either being implemented or were at the planning stage, including work on the future operating model, contract savings, and golf commercialisation.
The report outlines the process the council will use to make changes, from identifying areas where ‘high level benefits’ are possible before making sure the benefits are real, through to implementation.
The report to councillors states: “Evidencing the impact of each of the projects is a key focus of activity for the Change Team and it is anticipated benefits proposals will be available for all projects.
“Initial work has identified a number of productivity gains where the implementation of new processes will result in increased outputs and time savings, which may result in a requirement for reduced resource.”
The panel meets to consider the report on March 29.
