An election candidate has renamed his own pub as part of a last minute campaign drive.
Ayrshire Post columnist Bob Shields is standing on an independent ticket in Ayr West this week.
The ward is expected to be one of the most keenly contested in South Ayrshire.
And Bob has ramped up the heat on the eve of polling day, by rebranding his famous Twa Dugs boozer in the centre of Ayr.
He smiled: “It’s certainly got the regulars talking.
“Everyone is welcome at the ‘Vote Bob Inn’.
“Debate has been raging over the last few weeks so now it’s all down to the ballot box.”
Shields will bid to land one of South Ayrshire's 28 seats at Thursday's vote, claiming he will take his long-running criticism of the council to the inside of the corridors of power.
He added: "The council needs new faces, new ideas, new values and a new attitude.
"And that can only happen if voters chose new councillors to represent them.
"I’ve been taking SAC to task in my weekly Ayrshire Post page for almost a decade.
"With voters' support on polling day, I’ll be taking the fight to the front line...the council chamber itself."
