Tensions at Mountjoy Prison are at boiling point and another inmate death is imminent, sources warn.
Staff shortages mean prisoners are only allowed to leave their cells at staggered times for short periods during the day.
A source told the Irish Sunday Mirror: “Tensions are at an all-time high and getting worse.

“There is a serious lack of staff so some are being drafted in from other jails to help with the situation. There is not enough manpower so inmates on each landing are not being allowed out all together.
“With the recent hot weather prisoners have been getting very angry, some claim their cell is like a furnace.”
The death of Robert O’Connor following a brutal assault in his cell has added to tensions with factions fearing who might be targeted.
The source said: “Many are looking over their shoulder fearing a revenge attack might be next.”
