LUDHIANA: In an interesting development State GST (SGST) department conducted inspections on famous "Soup Wala" of Ludhiana who started his journey from a cart and now has three outlets all selling only soups. Besides this a crockery house and immigration consultant are also being inspected by the department.
Actions are being conducted by teams led by Assistant Commissioner of State taxes Shinee Singh. According to sources despite brisk sales the soup wala neither had any GST number and was not paying any taxes.
According to a statement issued by SGST department Ludhiana, "Under the directions of the respected Taxation Commissioner KK Yadav and DCST Randhir Kaur Aujla, In the heart of Ghumar Mandi, Chaudhary Crockery House was inspected by State GST department , Ludhiana 3 .
The inspection was planned based on the tax paid on the lower side, comparing with the turnover of the dealer. It has been a case of tax evasion. Documents have been impounded and further investigations is being carried out by the department. Another case of inspection been carried out on Patiala Shahi Veg Soup, it turned out that the dealer was engaged in selling soups at Dandhi Swami Road, Model Town and Kailash Cinema Road. The dealer has been registered by the department and a message has been sent to the market, to encourage registration"
"In an inspection on Brightway Visa Consultants Private Ltd, the dealer has been inspected and denied cancellation status, as the firm was found to be working. The proceedings are taken up the department authorities. The department has been rigoursly working on enhancing the registration of the firms, to increase the dealer base and to bring the tax evaders in the tax net as well" said the SGST department.
