Sou-per Dalbeattie day raises more than £1,000 for Ukraine

A soup-er way to raise funds for Ukraine proved popular in Dalbeattie on Friday morning.

Former Red Cross volunteers Alison Elkins, Susan Strachan, Mary Clarke, Penny Bryson and Margaret Adams organised a soup and sweet event to raise funds for the humanitarian effort in the war-torn country.

After the cost for the use of the lesser town hall was dealt with, the fine total of £1,188 was banked for the Red Cross DEC Ukraine fund.
