British Columbia has put up a pointed message for Americans arriving from the US: “Welcome to British Columbia, Canada. Strong, proud, and will NEVER be the 51st state. Sorry!” The message, displayed on new signs at British Columbia's border crossings, is a direct response to US President Donald Trump's repeated suggestions that Canada could become the 51st state of the United States.
