Sony has announced November’s monthly games for PlayStation Plus subscribers.
From November 7, PlayStation Plus members will get access to Mafia II: Definitive Edition, Aliens Fireteam Elite and Dragonball: The Breakers.
Before we take a closer look at whether these new additions are any good, it’s our last time to remind to you pick up October’s games before they disappear.
Last month’s haul included The Callisto Protocol, Weird West and Farming Simulator 2022, arguably a slightly stronger collection than what we get this month.
PlayStation Plus free games for November
Mafia II: Definitive Edition is a 2020 remaster of a game originally released in 2010. Back in the day, it was considered a more story-heavy alternative to the Grand Theft Auto games, one set decades earlier.
However, where GTA revels in open-world fun, the city of Mafia II is largely a place you use to get between story missions. As such it ends up feeling more like a classic third-person action adventure.
You can finish this one in around 12-15 hours, and the PlayStation 4 version received mixed reviews from the critics, ending up at 56% over at Metacritic.
Aliens Fireteam Elite came out in 2021 and is a third-person shooter designed to be played in co-op. You can play alone with computer-controlled bots on your team, though.
It’s based on the world of the film series, the action taking place a couple of decades after Alien III. You blast countless xenomorphs, and reviews at the time suggest you can finish the main campaign in 4-6 hours. The PlayStation version scored 67 on Metacritic.
Finally, we have Dragon Ball: The Breakers, a 2022 online multiplayer title in which you play as part of a team, with other real players, in an attempt to flee from a super-powerful enemy character. Or you can play as that supervillain figure, hunting down the rest.
This is perhaps the weakest of the November PlayStation Plus games, a budget title that earned 54% at Metacritic. IGN rated the game at 5/10, criticising the poor camera and clunky feel. Still, if you have a gang of friends who have PlayStation Plus and are willing to join a team, there’s still some fun to be had here.
These PlayStation Plus monthly games are available to all three tiers of PlayStation Plus members, Essential, Extra and Premium.
