
Sony Pictures Classics has acquired the rights to release the addiction drama film 'The Outrun,' starring Saoirse Ronan, in theaters this fall. Directed by Nora Fingscheidt, the movie follows a young Scottish woman's journey to overcome her alcohol addiction amidst the Orkney Islands in Scotland. The film is set to hit theaters on Oct. 4 and will be distributed by Sony Pictures Classics in collaboration with Stage 6 Films.
'The Outrun' has received critical acclaim for its compelling storyline and standout performances, particularly from Saoirse Ronan. The movie also features Paapa Essiedu, Stephen Dillane, and Saskia Reeves in supporting roles. Having previously premiered at Sundance and Berlin film festivals, 'The Outrun' is a BBC Film, Screen Scotland, and MBK Productions presentation, produced by a talented team including Sarah Brocklehurst, Dominic Norris, Jack Lowden, and Saoirse Ronan.
