While it's come as a bit of a shock to the industry that Microsoft has acquired Activision Blizzard for over $60 billion, one of the main concerns is how the company's library of games will be affected.
Many are concerned that Activision's games will become Xbox exclusive in the future, reigniting the so-called 'console wars'.
In the midst of this future uncertainty, Sony has released a statement in which it announces that it expects Activision's games to remain on PlayStation consoles, including the Call of Duty franchise.

A Sony spokesperson told Wall Street Journal : "We expect that Microsoft will abide by contractual agreements and continue to ensure Activision games are multiplatform."
Despite Sony making the first move, it doesn't change the fact that future plans for Microsoft's newly acquired company are still uncertain.
Microsoft has not yet released a statement or plan of how games will be released under Activision's current IPs.
The existing contracts that the Sony spokesperson speaks of includes very popular and high-selling titles on the PlayStation, such as Call of Duty and Overwatch.
Theoretically, Microsoft has the right to do whatever they want with future titles, namely, releasing them exclusively on Xbox Game Pass.
It is also possible that Sony has contracts behind the scenes that ensure certain Activision titles will be releasing on PlayStation over the next few years, regardless of Microsoft's acquisition.
Previous acquisitions by Microsoft haven't interfered with exclusive titles on PlayStation, such as when they took over Bethesda, leaving Deathloop and Ghostwire as exclusive titles on the PS5.
