The blue blur is about to make his open-world debit with Sonic Frontiers, which just got an official release date.
During the Gamescom 2022 Opening Night Live showcase, Sega announced that Sonic Frontiers is coming out on Nov. 8, 2022, for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Not only that, there’s an all-new trailer showing off a bit of the story.
After Tails and Amy go missing, Sonic begins a quest to find them. His journey primarily takes place in the strange Starfall Islands, where there are plenty of wide-open landscapes to blitz across — full of some evil robots and noggin scratch-worthy puzzles to deal with too. It wouldn’t be an installment in this series without those elements, though.
Check out the latest Sonic Frontiers trailer for yourself below. It’s mostly spoiler-free, so there is no need to worry about ruining hedgehog drama.

Sonic Frontiers was initially shown off last year with an exciting teaser. Since then, there have been a couple more trailers that didn’t receive the warmest reception. Particularly anything involving combat, which looks a bit better in the newest gameplay footage. Hopefully, the issues get addressed before launch.
In any event, we’ll find out when Sonic Frontiers releases later this fall.
