Son of billionaire Mango founder arrested as suspect in father’s hiking death

  • A Barcelona court has named 45-year-old Jonathan Andic as a suspect in the investigation into the death of his father , fashion tycoon Isak Andic, who died after falling over 328 feet from a cliff during a hike they took together.
  • Judge Raquel Nieto Galvan stated there is "sufficient evidence to suggest that the death... may not have been accidental" and that Jonathan Andic "played an active and premeditated role" in his father's death, though he has not been charged.
  • The judge's writ indicates a long-standing financial grudge, with Jonathan allegedly harboring "feelings of hatred, resentment and thoughts of death" towards his father, stemming from an "obsession with money" and a desire for an early inheritance, exacerbated by Isak's withdrawal of responsibilities at Mango in 2015.
  • Suspicion was raised by Jonathan's contradictory statements to emergency services and police, and police simulations found the body's fall inconsistent with a slip, noting Isak fell feet first without hand injuries, and his phone was found in his pocket, contradicting Jonathan's claim he stopped for photos.
  • Further evidence includes Jonathan's car tracking showing multiple visits to the cliff site before the incident, contrary to his testimony, and his subsequent changing of his phone, losing all data, which coincided with the case being reopened.
