After scoring 23 league goals and sharing the golden boot with Mohammed Salah last season, many FIFA fans would have been predicting Son Heung-min to receive an upgrade on this year's edition of the world's most popular football video game.
Son had a sensational campaign at Spurs, directly contributing to 32 goals in 35 appearances. However, the South Korean's rating for FIFA 23 is the same as his one for FIFA 22, it has been revealed. Ratings were released for the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Kai Havertz and Son, for the game that comes out on September 30.
The Spurs winger's rating has not improved despite having the best individual season of his career. He has received an overall rating of 89, although some of his stats have changed from the last edition of FIFA.
His pace (89), dribbling (86), passing (82) and physical (69) are all the same as FIFA 22, while his defending has been downgraded from 43 to 42. Unsurprisingly, Son's shooting has been upgraded from 87 to 89, which will make him one of the most deadly finishers in the game.
All 23 of his goals last were non-penalty goals, highlighting his finishing ability, and therefore his shooting stat boost is justified.
But given the season the 30-year-old had - where he outscored the likes of Harry Kane, Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane - it's surprising that his overall rating hasn't been upgraded.
Elsewhere, Liverpool defender Van Dijk has received a rating of 90, with Chelsea forward Kai Havertz rated at 84.
