Son Heung-min reveals why he 'fell in love' with Antonio Conte at Tottenham

Son Heung-min is one of the many players who have improved at Tottenham since Antonio Conte's arrival. The South Korean has produced a mixture of performances, but even when he is not at his best he still finds a way to help his team.

Son has scored 17 goals and registered seven assists in 30 Premier League games so far this season, just five goals behind top goalscorer Mohamed Salah. The 29-year-old also broke the league record for the partnership with most goal contributions alongside Harry Kane, surpassing Chelsea duo Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba.

Son has been finding the back of the net more often than usual, with the England captain dropping into deeper positions to help setup his teammate. Spurs currently sit two points behind fourth placed Arsenal in the league and Son will want to help his side try and secure Champions League football for next season in their final five games.

The South Korean has had experience with many different managers in a number of leagues. Earlier in his career, he played under Roger Schmidt at Bayer Leverkusen and in an interview with Stadium Astro, the 29-year-old said Schmidt's pressing tactics have helped him become such an effective attacker in the Premier League.

"He's the first guy who really brought it in the Leverkusen team. It was crazy, crazy pressing," Son admitted.

"Every training session we used to do the pressing session. I really enjoyed it because everyone seems really, really close but this experience helped me a lot, when I joined the Premier League."

Pressing is something Son then experienced under Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham. However, he explained how all the managers he's played under, have slightly different methods.

"All managers have different details. Roger Schmidt was extreme pressing, crazy pressing I would say, which I really enjoyed and it was really good. Pochettino was different pressing, it's hard to explain because footballers know what's going on and this manager has a mind of the press but Conte is more about being compact," the forward explained.

Son's strong relationship with the Tottenham boss is clear to see, both on and off the pitch. The duo are often seen smiling and hugging in celebration, when Spurs win games or the South Korean has produced a good performance.

Conte has already praised the 29-year-old, on a number of occasions. "The important player, the top player is good to manage this moment and Sonny you’re talking about a really, really, player who is really, really good, an important player but at the same time a good person," the Italian said, last month.

In the recent interview, Son explained that the detail and improvement Conte is providing, is "incredible". The 52-year-old's passion on the sideline is clear to see in every game and the South Korean was asked how he felt about this, when he is playing on the pitch.

"It's really positive energy because sometimes, as a manager, you can just sit on the bench and think 'let's hope we win this game' but I never see him sit down. He's just into it, passionate," Son admitted.

"It feels like he's playing with us, lucky I didn't pass to him on the touchline because I feel like he's playing with us. He's giving us so much positive energy.

"Every single training session he's always shouting, always giving details because if somebody doesn't do what he asks for, he's angry. The details what he asks for is really important for him and really important for us as well. Everyone is following this direction and everyone just loves it.

"I fell in love because he's giving us so much detail. Training makes you perfect so sometimes it feels a little bit long but we train long because we need these details.

"If we follow [him], we're going to win because he knows how to win," Son added. Tottenham's aim for the final stretch of the season is to secure a spot in the top four, so they can get back to playing in the top European competition next season.

For now, the South Korean will want to continue developing under his new manager and finishing the season in the strongest possible form.
