A heartbreaking tale of loss and resilience emerged in Altadena, California, as Shaw Zhao, a resident of Portland, Oregon, faced the devastating aftermath of the Eaton Fire that ravaged the area. Shaw's 84-year-old father, Zhi Feng Zhao, was tragically caught in the chaos of the fire, leading to a harrowing search for answers.
Shaw's last conversation with his father on January 7 was a simple exchange about his upcoming visit and meal preferences. Little did he know that this would be the final interaction before the unfolding tragedy.
