Son dropped, Hugo Lloris decision - The Tottenham team Conte should pick vs Fulham

Tottenham Hotspur return to Premier League action on Monday evening looking to bounce back with a win at Fulham.

Antonio Conte's men have lost back-to-back matches against the title challengers Arsenal and Manchester City in recent days and now they face a tough trip to an in-form Fulham side who would leapfrog them into fifth place if they won at their Craven Cottage home. The Spurs head coach will have plenty of selection decisions to make after recent mixed displays.

We asked our Tottenham correspondents Alasdair Gold and Rob Guest to select the teams that they think Conte will pick for the trip across London.

Rodrigo Bentancur was Spurs' best player by a long way at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday night and as long as he has recovered well after six weeks out of action, then Conte will need him in the midfield against Fulham.

In contrast Ivan Perisic and Clement Lenglet did themselves no favours in their time against Manchester City with their individual errors so Conte could revert to Ryan Sessegnon at left wing-back and keep Ben Davies on the left of the back three.

At right wing-back, Matt Doherty should now be fully recovered after his illness and that may see him replace Emerson Royal, despite the Brazilian's goal in midweek.

Conte is more likely to keep faith with skipper Hugo Lloris than bring in Fraser Forster but the Italian could change it up in the front line if he considers Richarlison to be fit enough to start. If the Brazilian is ready then the Tottenham head coach might take the out-of-form Son Heung-min out of the firing line in the hope of provoking a similar response to the one he got against Leicester earlier in the season.

Gold's team: Lloris; Romero, Dier, Davies; Doherty, Bentancur, Hojbjerg, Sessegnon; Kulusevski, Kane, Richarlison.

Son Heung-min’s place in the Tottenham team for Monday’s game at Fulham is very much under threat following his struggles this season.

As Richarlison now has minutes in his legs after coming off the bench in the past two games following his return from injury, the Brazilian should come into the XI at the expense of the South Korean.

Responding so well against Leicester City in September after dropping down to the bench, hopefully the same will happen to Son this time if he is to watch from the sidelines to begin with. Ryan Sessegnon should also come into the side after Ivan Perisic’s poor performance in Thursday’s defeat at Man City, with Emerson Royal keeping his place at right wing-back.

Guest's team: Lloris; Romero, Dier, Davies; Emerson, Bentancur, Hojbjerg, Sessegnon; Kulusevski, Kane, Richarlison.
