Aston Villa star Philippe Coutinho has revealed how Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard ‘could still play’ in the Premier League.
Coutinho moved to Villa Park on loan from Barcelona in January, two months after Gerrard became the club’s manager.
The duo played together at Liverpool between 2013 and 2015 before Anfield legend Gerrard left the club at the end of the 2014/15 season to move to LA Galaxy.
The former Liverpool No.8 has been retired from football since 2017 and is now in his fourth season as a professional football manager, following a little over three years with Glasgow Rangers.

But speaking to Sky Sports, Coutinho has explained how Gerrard occasionally takes part in training sessions.
And the Brazilian, who made 201 appearances for Liverpool before his £142million move to Barcelona in 2018, went on to explain how he looked up to his manager.
“Yes, for sure,” said Coutinho, when asked if Gerrard still had the ability to play at the highest level.
“Sometimes when we’re missing one player he’s there, and you can see that he hasn’t lost anything. He could still play.
“He was always an idol for me, and I’m really happy to work with him again.”
