NEW DELHI: India's comprehensive 4-1 series victory over England in the Anthony de Mello Trophy left Sunil Gavaskar elated, yet he didn't hesitate to critique England's attitude, particularly linking it to their performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Expressing joy over India's remarkable win, Gavaskar highlighted the significance of the team's success despite initial setbacks and the absence of key players like Virat Kohli and KL Rahul. He applauded the emergence of young talents within the Indian squad, underscoring the satisfaction derived from their dominance over England.
In his column for The Sportstar, Gavaskar didn't hold back in criticizing England's behavior, accusing them of a "superiority complex" and unnecessary verbal exchanges throughout the series. He attributed this to their perceived lack of success in the IPL compared to Australian players.
"The Aussies have been invariably better, looking to adapt themselves to the culture and not look down their noses at us natives. It also helps that the Aussies recognize a golden goose when they see one, and the IPL is certainly a humongous golden goose," remarked Gavaskar, highlighting the contrasting attitudes between Australian and English players towards the IPL.

He suggested that this discrepancy fuels the tension between Indian and English players during matches.
"Some of them can't stomach the fees for which some of the Indian players are bought and compare their achievements at the international level when the IPL auction dynamics can be so volatile and hard to explain or even understand," Gavaskar added, highlighting the challenges faced by English players in the IPL.
