Some Northumberland beauty spots still closed this Easter as visitors reminded to 'take care'

The devastation caused by storms during the winter months is still having an impact in Northumberland, after a message to 'take care' was issued to those visiting the county over the Easter weekend.

Severe weather from Storms Arwen, Barra and Malik brought town thousands of trees across Northumberland and weakened many others, leaving some woodlands, beauty spots, parks and local nature reserves in a potentially dangerous condition. Kielder Water and Forest Park was particularly badly hit, and Forestry England crews have been working on making the area safe for some time.

And some other popular forest sites, such as Simonside, Holystone and Thrunton Woods remain closed to the public due to the sheer scale of the damage caused.
