An Israeli army reservist's Brazilian vacation took a dark turn last month after he was accused of war crimes in Gaza.

Yuval Vagdani's holiday ended abruptly on January 4th when he awoke to a barrage of missed calls from worried family and the Israeli Foreign Ministry. A pro-Palestinian legal group had successfully petitioned a Brazilian federal judge to open a war crimes investigation into Vagdani's alleged role in demolishing civilian homes in Gaza.
