Some bin collections will be suspended in West Lothian on Jubilee bank holiday due to staff shortages

Blue and brown bins scheduled for collection on the Diamond Jubilee special holiday on Friday have been suspended.

Only grey bins scheduled for collection on June 3 should be put out as normal, and left out until they are emptied.

Staffing levels over the special holiday weekend means it will not be possible to maintain a full service, with priority being given to grey bin collections.

A West Lothian Council spokesperson said: “We regret that we will be unable to offer a full bin collection service over the Jubilee special holiday.

“Only those whose grey bins collections are due on Friday 3 June should put their bin out as normal, with blue and brown bins left until their next scheduled collection date.

“We would like to offer our sincere apologies to all residents affected by this unavoidable change.”

Unfortunately, we are not able to return to collect single missed bins or any not put out on the correct date.

To find your scheduled collection date please refer to your collection calendar or visit here where you can also sign up for email reminders to ensure you don’t miss a collection.

Excess waste and recycling can also be taken to all five of West Lothian’s recycling centres. For details, such as opening hours and locations, please visit here.
