Solo Leveling may be breaking records in the west but audiences in Japan are cooler on it: "No different from any other anime"

Solo Leveling may have taken the west by storm but, in a surprise admission, it appears Japanese audiences are a little more lukewarm on the shonen sensation.

Speaking on Crunchyroll's The Anime Effect podcast (H/T CBR), the anime's animation producer Atsushi Kaneko revealed that Solo Leveling didn't always stand out in a crowded landscape filled with new anime.
