A hiker had to be airlifted to hospital after a horror fall in the Cairngorms.
Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team (CMRT) raced to Loch Etchachan on Monday afternoon after they were alerted by a group of five walkers who witnessed the solo climber fall.
Braemar Mountain Rescue also attended the scene and a Coastguard rescue helicopter was requested. Three team members from Glenmore Lodge MRT were also airlifted in to assist.
Low cloud meant the rescue helicopter team were working in difficult conditions, however they were eventually able to safely extract the casualty from the hillside.
The injured climber was then airlifted to hospital for treatment. No information on their condition is available at this stage.
CMRT also thanked Cairngorm Mountain Resort who helped transport team members and their kit to the scene.
Posting to Facebook, CMRT said: "CMRT were called out this afternoon along with Braemar Mountain Rescue after a soloist was witnessed falling in the Loch Etchachan area. Coastguard helicopter Rescue 151 were requested and team members made their way on to the mountain to standby."
"Three team members from Cairngorm and Glenmore Lodge MRT were airlifted in to assist with the rescue. Low cloud made it a tricky extraction but the casualty was safely flown to hospital. Thanks to the group of 5 climbers that raised the alarm and went to help the casualty.
"Many thanks Cairngorm Mountain Resort for their assistance in helping us get our team members and kit out on the hill quickly."
