A soldier in the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment suffered a mishap after falling off his horse in Hyde Park on Thursday.
The soldier tumbled from his horse during a practice run for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June.
Pictures showed the unfortunate soldier laying on the ground in ceremonial costume after the fall.
He had been participating in an inspection by the General Officer Commanding the Household Division, Major General Christopher Ghika, which involved around 170 horses and personnel.
The regiment, which has barracks in Hyde Park, represents the Monarch and the nation at key ceremonial events.
The Major General’s annual inspection is the ultimate test for one of the British Army’s most senior regiments, particularly ahead of the Jubilee.
The unprecedented anniversary will be marked with a four day UK bank holiday weekend from Thursday, June 2 to Sunday, June 5.
This will include the traditional Trooping the Colour parade to mark the Queen’s official birthday, which is usually held on the second Saturday in June.
Members of the Household Cavalry have previously suffered similar accidents, such as in 2015, when a trumpeter also fell off his horse during the annual inspection.
