Sofyan Amrabat's Liverpool transfer stance outlined after World Cup 2022 heroics

Sofyan Amrabat's agent has revealed that he has already fielded plenty of calls from suitors following his client's impressive performances for Morocco at the World Cup - but stressed that the Fiorentina star is already at a "very respectable club".

Amrabat has won plenty of plaudits over the past few weeks after playing an influential role in Morocco's historic run to the World Cup semi-finals. And unsurprisingly, a host of high-profile suitors have been credited with an interest in the 26-year-old.

Liverpool are one of the club's courting Amrabat, with Anfield chief Jurgen Klopp believed to be a big fan of the versatile midfielder.

A report from Spanish outlet Relevo claims that Liverpool scouts have been "amazed" after watching Amrabat in the World Cup - but the latest comments from the midfielder's agent, Alberto Fontana, suggest that the coveted Fiorentina ace isn't angling for a big-money move in the New Year.

"We talk often, I pass on the news that is going around in Italy," Fontana told Radio Sportiva when he was asked about his star client. "Fiorentina is enjoying his qualities now, given that last year he was a bit covered by [Lucas] Torreira."

“We have received many phone calls for him, but we respect the choices Fiorentina are making. They decided to bet on him and not to redeem Torreira, even if they could have played together. The calls are nice, but we have an excellent relationship with Fiorentina, in addition to the long contract that binds him to the viola club. Despite playing in a lower European cup, they are a very respectable club."

Liverpool are widely expected to revamp their midfield options next summer and have been blighted by numerous engine room issues this term, but have various irons in the fire even if a deal for Amrabat fails to materialise.

England star Jude Bellingham, who also caught the eye with a number of dazzling performances at the World Cup, is believed to be the Reds' No.1 transfer target. However, with the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City also believed to be interesting in acquiring the teenager's services, a deal to snap up Bellingham is unlikely to be straightforward.

Liverpool have also been credited with an interest in Argentina starlet Enzo Fernandez, with reports on Monday claiming that the Premier League outfit have 'struck a pre-agreement' with the coveted 21-year-old.

Fernandez, who only joined Benfica last summer, is likely to command a significant transfer fee if he does move on: the midfielder joined the Portuguese giants for an initial fee of just €10m (£8.9m) but is believed to have a £106m release clause in his contract.

If Liverpool do choose to pursue a deal for Fernandez, then they will resume negotiations with Benfica after snaring striking hotshot Darwin Nunez back in the summer.
