Sofyan Amrabat's brother issues transfer plea amid Liverpool links

The brother of reported Liverpool target Sofyan Amrabat has begged Paris Saint-Germain owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi to sign the Fiorentina midfielder.

Amrabat has been one of the breakout stars of the World Cup with Morocco, who became the first African nation to reach the semi-finals as they dumped out Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal on Saturday evening thanks to a 1-0 victory.

The 26-year-old's performances have been so impressive that he has been linked with immediate switches to Anfield, Tottenham Hotspur and teams in France - including PSG.

And it now appears that Amrabat's brother, Nordin, has made a plea for his brother to be signed by the French champions.

Speaking in an interview with L'Équipe, he said: “Nasser Al-Khelaifi, if you read my words, take my brother!”

In the same interview, he claimed that a move to the Paris-based club would be ideal for his brother whose style of play would “suit the club very well".

The Reds' interest in the midfielder appeared to increase earlier this week when reports from France claimed that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had met with the player's entourage and the two parties were already planning another meeting after the conclusion of this winter's World Cup.

"According to our information, Sofyan Amrabat's entourage has already met Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp, eager to strengthen his midfield for the second half of the busy season to come," claimed a report from Footmercato. "The meeting between the two parties has also been positive, and the latter have planned to see each other again after the 2022 World Cup."

The report from France also claims that Fiorentina have the option of extending Amrabat's deal by a further 12 months, which would see him tied down to the Serie A outfit until at least 2025.
