Social welfare recipients should plan ahead as the child benefit payment will be affected this May Bank Holiday Weekend.
The long weekend begins at the end of April this year, with Bank Holiday Monday falling on May 1. All banks and post offices will remain closed until May 2, affecting payments due on this date.
Money Guide Ireland reports that both welfare payments and state pensions owed on May 1 will instead be paid on Friday 28 April. Any payments due on Tuesday May 2 should not be affected as the long weekend will have ended.

Here is an update on how social welfare payments will be issued due to the long weekend.
Child Benefit
Child Benefit is due on May 2. It may arrive in bank accounts early thanks to the Bank Holiday weekend but this is subject to individual banks and can't be guaranteed.
Payments via the Post Offce
Any payments due on Monday May 1 can be collected from the post office on April 28. Payments on May 2 will remain unaffected.
Payments directly to bank accounts
Any welfare or state payments will also be issued to bank accounts on April 28. This also applies to credit union accounts.
