Social Security Scotland has confirmed that scheduled benefits, including Child and Adult Disability Payment, which are due on the May Day bank holiday next Monday will land in bank accounts this Friday, April 28. The announcement was posted on social media and follows similar updates from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) for payments including State Pension, Child Benefit and Universal Credit.
The post on Twitter said: “If your payment date is on a bank holiday you’ll usually be paid the working day before. If you are due a payment on Monday 1 May, you will be paid by the end of Friday 28 April.”
There’s no update on whether Social Security Scotland webchat services and phone lines will be operational on the bank holiday, but will update this article once this information has been shared. DWP recently confirmed that Jobcentre Plus opening times are different for the bank holidays on May 1 and the King’s Coronation on May 8.
On both Mondays, DWP offices and phone lines will be closed, this means that payments due on May 8 will also be made early, on Friday, May 5, 2023.
Social Security Scotland has not shared details of opening hours or changes to scheduled payments over the Coronation bank holiday, but is expected to do so.
