Millions of Social Security beneficiaries could see their monthly payments rise by 3.5% in 2027, according to the latest forecast released by advocacy group The Senior Citizens League. The projected figure is 0.1 percentage points lower than last month's estimate, but would be higher than the 2.8 percent cost-of-living adjustment for 2026 and the 2.5 percent increase for 2025.
For context, the latest prediction came after analysts updated their mathematical model to reflect new financial data. The Senior Citizens League uses a statistical model that incorporates the Consumer Price Index, the Federal Reserve interest rate and the national unemployment rate when producing its monthly forecasts.
