Social Security $90 extra deposit: When will payments arrive, who qualifies and why some Medicare beneficiaries will miss out

This week, Americans received a little extra money in their bank accounts. Millions of citizens in the United States enrolled in Medicare have received a one-time $90 payment from the federal government as part of a new initiative announced by President Donald Trump. The payments reportedly started going out on October 8. More than 20 million Americans enrolled in Medicare may have noticed an extra $90 from the Social Security Administration in their bank accounts this month.

But, there's a catch. Not everyone enrolled in Medicare Part B is eligible to receive Social Security $90 extra deposit. People whose Medicare premiums are already paid by Medicaid won't receive the $90 payment. The same rule applies for beneficiaries who pay higher premiums because of their income, known as an income-related monthly adjustment amount.
