After slow starts throughout much of the season, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day said he wanted to see his team get out to a faster start against Purdue on Saturday afternoon.
The Buckeyes did just that.
Despite being down several starters, including Treveyon Henderson and Emeka Egbuka, OSU blew out the Boilermakers, 41-7.
It was good to see the Scarlet and Gray clicking early. Yes, Purdue isn’t a great opponent, but the weather conditions were less than ideal, and Ross-Ade Stadium has proved a thorn in the Buckeyes’ side in recent years.
Ohio State fans weren’t happy about the game being exclusively on Peacock but liked much of what the Buckeyes were able to do on the field.
We now move on to Penn State week, but before we do, social media had some outstanding reactions to the big win over the Boilermakers. Let’s take a look at some of the best.
Fans were not happy about this whole Peacock thing
What to do when @peacock streaming is the only way to watch your team on TV and you have slow rural internet? You have the muted TV tuned to a different game and the Ohio State/Purdue game on the radio. 😁😁😁 pic.twitter.com/GaAlGkUO7t

Always room to improve
Ryan Day called Ohio State's win over Purdue "a job well done" but said the Buckeyes have room to improve before the second half of the season.
"There are things we need to get better at. It's a work in progress."

Purdue might want to sign that kid up!

Three quality points
1. The Buckeye defense held Purdue scoreless in the first half.
2. Ohio State has given up just 31 points in its last 10 quarters of play — 2.5 games.
3. And they've got this man Marvin Harrison, Jr. putting people on highlight reels like this.

Scary moment for Chip

Yeah ... that's pretty good
Dallan Hayden: 8 carries for 64 yards and 1 TD
Is that good?

We like Devin Brown goal line packages
Who needs healthy running backs when you have Devin Brown in short yardage?

We'd agree with that assessment
"When the ball is in his hand that's when he's at his best. He has good vision, good quickness."
Ryan Day said it was great to see Dallan Hayden step up in a big moment.

Point taken
Dallan Hayden has to play moving forward, redshirt be damned. This is a two-part deal:
1. You're competing for a championship. Anything that makes you even a tick better toward reaching that goal is worth doing over "saving" something for later.
2. If Dallan Hayden is an NFL…

That's quite the MASH unit. We'll have to see how all of these players are for Penn State
Asked for health updates in his postgame press conference on TreVeyon Henderson, Chip Trayanum, Emeka Egbuka and Denzel Burke, Ryan Day says “I can’t get into that right now.”

That's getting it done
That's five consecutive games now with a TFL for impressive Ohio State DT Tyleik Williams. He has five for minus-11 yards so far on the season and already a career high 25 total tackles.
