The Socceroos have released a politically charged statement ahead of the Qatar World Cup, calling for the decriminalisation of same-sex relationships in the host nation.
In a collective video message delivered line-by-line by Australia’s national team on Thursday, the players also demanded “effective remedy” in worker rights in the Middle Eastern country, labelling reforms in Qatar as inconsistent.
