Soap fans were disappointed to find out that, once again this week, Emmerdale and Coronation Street have been cancelled tonight.
The regular programmes have been shifted from their usual time slots on ITV, to make room for coverage of the World Cup in Qatar.
Neither of the soaps will air this evening, in frustrating news for fans, as it will be the second night in a row that the soaps have been cancelled.
To prepare for the shake-up all the episodes of Emmerdale and Coronation Street are available on ITVX ahead of time so that viewers will still be able to follow the programme even when it’s not on air.
Fans have not been pleased about the disruption this week, after Coronation Street has only aired on Sunday to Wednesday, while Emmerdale was also cancelled on Monday.
One passionate viewer to Twitter and wrote about the cancellations "There are no shows on TV!!"
Normally Emmerdale airs every week night at 7.30pm with an extra hour-long episode on Thursday.
While Coronation Street usually lands in three 60-minute instalments on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm.
Similar to ITVX, BBC iPlayer has dropped all the week’s episodes of EastEnders to try and give as many viewers access to the soap as the schedule changes for different matches.
The disruption to major programmes will occur for another week, as the football fixtures air until December 8 across ITV and BBC channels.
BBC One viewers have also noticed the impact of the schedule reshuffle for other shows such as Strictly Come Dancing, which bumped it’s quarter-final from Saturday to Friday evening.
The one-off timeslot left viewers extremely confused, as many shared their frustrations on Twitter as they missed the episode as they didn’t realise it was broadcast a day earlier than usual.
