Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has jokingly responded to recent praise from former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson - admitting the two would have had many arguments if they had shared the touchline as managers.
On Friday, the eve of the German's 1,000th match in management, the legendary Old Trafford boss hailed Klopp and the job he has done at Anfield since succeeding Brendan Rodgers in late 2015 - lauding the Reds boss as an inspiration to aspiring coaches.
"I'm delighted to welcome Jurgen Klopp to the LMA 1000 club," said Ferguson on behalf of the League Manager's Assocation. "Jurgen is undoubtedly one of the most gifted managers in world football and the dedication and passion which Jurgen brings to the role is inspiring to anyone aspiring to a career in football management.

"The many trophies he has already won in his career, including in recent seasons the Champions League and Premier League with Liverpool, confirm his status amongst football's elite."
Asked about Ferguson's comments after Saturday's 0-0 draw with Chelsea, Klopp said: "Myself and Sir Alex Ferguson never played against each other - we would have had so many arguments!"
"He really respects what we are doing and I respect what he did - it's nice when people say things like he said, of course."
Despite the incredible milestone, Liverpool were unable to claim all three points as they welcomed Chelsea to Anfield on Saturday morning.
The Londoners came closest to breaking the deadlock as Kai Havertz saw a first half goal chalked off for offside. Meanwhile, Benoit Badiashile was denied by Alisson Becker from close range just before the interval.
The draw sees the Reds stay in ninth place in the table, having missed the chance to make up ground on Newcastle United - who occupy the final Champions League qualification place.
