A number of SNP candidates have been put forward to contest the upcoming Perth and Kinross Council elections on May 5.
John Rebbeck and Ian Massie have been selected as the SNP candidates to represent Perth City North ward.
Meanwhile, Richard Watters has been selected to represent the Kinross-shire ward and Michelle Frampton has been selected as the candidate to represent the Almond and Earn ward.
Both Jack Welch and Grant Stewart have been selected as candidates to contest the Strathmore ward and John Kellas and Ken Harvey for Carse of Gowrie, it was also announced.
Mr Rebbeck has served as a councillor since 2017 and said: “I am humbled to have been re-selected as an SNP candidate for Perth City North and to be given the opportunity to continue representing our communities.
“Since being elected in 2017, I have worked towards making Perth City North an even better place to live.”
Mr Massie said: “I feel privileged to have been chosen again as the SNP candidate for Perth City North and to have the chance to continue helping to shape the future of our local community.
“Local residents know what is needed to improve the area they live in.
“As such, I will continue to listen and take action to help them via community empowerment programmes and by ensuring the ward receives the right services.”
Watters said: “I am very pleased to have been re-selected as the SNP candidate for Kinross-shire.
“Serving the community since 2017, I have been committed to finding ways to build more quality affordable housing to encourage young people to stay and work locally, so that we can protect Kinross-shire’s long-term economic and social viability.”
Ms Frampton said: “I am truly honoured to have been chosen as the SNP candidate for Almond and Earn.
“I am ready to work tirelessly for the people of Almond and Earn and will strive to reverse the damage caused by five years of Tory policies and inaction.
“My focus will be on helping to improve the health and wellbeing of local residents by fighting for a new GP practice; working to tackle poverty issues with an aim to see a thriving, inclusive and fair community; and supporting local education and housing needs.”
Mr Welch said: “I am delighted to have been chosen as an SNP candidate for the Strathmore ward, and for the opportunity to continue serving my local community.”
Mr Stewart concluded: “I am honoured to represent the SNP in the Strathmore ward.
“Working on the frontline of our NHS during the pandemic has only strengthened my desire to serve my local community, and given me a clear understanding of the challenges we face as we seek to recover from this hugely difficult two years.”
Former long-serving councillor in Perth and Kinross, Mr Kellas, said: “With over 20 years’ experience in business and politics, I can make an immediate and positive difference to everyone in the local community, whatever their political view.”
Mr Harvey concluded: “I know first-hand the importance of providing an excellent service, working hard and being available for my [business] clients.
“I will bring this same ethos and professionalism to my work as an elected councillor.”
