Australia's youngest Snowtown killer will be released from prison after the latest legal challenge to his parole failed, ending a year-long battle over whether he should remain behind bars for his role in one of the country's most notorious murder cases.
James Spyridon Vlassakis, now 46, pleaded guilty to four murders in the Snowtown killings and was sentenced to life imprisonment with a non-parole period of 26 years. That period expired in August 2025, but a government challenge kept him in custody for more than another year.
