Snow has been falling on higher ground in the UK in recent days with overnight temperatures plummeting as we head towards December.
Ireland has enjoyed relatively mild conditions in comparison but bitter cold nights here have led to some ground frost and patchy ice on some roads.
Met Éireann does not anticipate the white stuff making it to our shores in the next few weeks with the mild conditions likely to continue well into December.

The national forecaster is, however, predicting an "unsettled" picture for the coming days "with rain or showers most days and temperatures close to seasonal norm."
On Tuesday, "sunny spells will develop through the morning while scattered showers become isolated though the day. Cloud will increase in the southeast towards evening with rain develop there later. Highest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees, in mostly moderate southwesterly breezes."
It will be blustery on Wednesday with sunny spells and scattered showers, some with hail and thunder, especially closer to the Atlantic coast. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in fresh to strong southwest winds.
"Showers will persist across Atlantic counties with long clearer spells elsewhere. Outbreaks of rain will develop in western areas before dawn. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees, in moderate, occasionally fresh southerly winds," Met Éireann's latest forecast says.
Thursday will be "rather wet and windy with spells of rain tracking eastwards through the day. Scattered showers following from the west. Highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees in fresh to strong south to southwest winds."
"Blustery with clear spells and scattered showers through the night. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 6 degrees in moderate to fresh southwesterly winds.
"Breezy on Friday with outbreaks of rain spreading from the west and south. Highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees in moderate to fresh southerly winds."
Looking beyond that in its monthly forecast, Met Eireann reckons the first days of December up to December 4 will be "dominated by low pressure, likely moving slightly further west from Ireland as high pressure over Europe builds."
"Temperatures will likely remain above normal, perhaps slightly more than in Week 1. Rainfall will also continue to be above normal. Strong winds and heavy spells of rain are possible hazards, along with frosts at night."
They say it will be "more settled" from December 5 to December 11 with high pressure likely to dominate our weather.
They predict that it will be "drier than average conditions are expected over much of the country and temperatures will likely be around normal for the time of year. Less potential hazards are hinted at but frosts and fog could be a feature during the night with a slacker airflow."
From December 12 to 18, they again predict high pressure and temperatures continuing "around normal with drier than average conditions for most of the country."
Meanwhile across the month, the UK Met Office predicted more than seven inches of snow in parts of Britain on Saturday night and more for tonight, saying it will be "showery in the far southwest with coastal gales. Some rain, sleet and hill snow across the Northern Isles."
