Snow and ice may be on the way next week, despite the highest temperature in the UK so far this year having been recorded on Sunday (April 16). A balmy high of 20.1C was recorded at Kilnochewe in the Scottish Highlands, the highest the mercury has reached since 13 November 2022, but the emergence of Spring may be stopped in its tracks next week.
A return of cooler temperatures and possible snow is some northern areas is being predicted, with some weather maps forecasting that a plume of sub-zero air from Scandinavia will bring a return of wintry conditions next week, the Express reports. It will follow an “unsettled” weekend and some relatively high temperatures during the remainder of this week.
Nottingham is forecast to be a fairly mild 13C both today and tomorrow, with sunny spells and rain unlikely. The best of the sunshine will be this evening and tomorrow morning.
