Snooker star David Gilbert has found himself in hot water after storming out of his German Masters qualifier against Andy Hicks on Wednesday. Gilbert took on Hicks in Leicester for a place in the main draw in February.
After five frames, the 'Angry Farmer' - as he is aptly nicknamed - found himself 3-2 down. One frame later, Gilbert found himself 55 points behind his opponent when he had the opportunity top pot a simple black to reduce the deficit.
However, it was not to be for the Englishman as he dramatically missed the gaping black and went on to see red.
Despite the miss Gilbert was still mathematically in the frame with 75 still on the table. But he had had enough, as he marched over to opponent Hicks, shook his hand, collected his belongings and stormed off.
In doing so, Gilbert conceded the match and a place in the round of 32 to Hicks, as the referee awarded a 5-2 result in the 49-year-old's favour. As well as losing his place in the competition, there could be further repercussions for the world No. 17.
Gilbert's actions mirrored those of Ronnie O'Sullivan, who similarly stormed out of match back in the 2006 UK Championship quarter-final. O'Sullivan was taking on Stephen Hendry when he found himself 4-1 down in the best of 17 clash.

During the match, the Rocket was left angered by misplacing the cue ball after potting the black. On his next red, O'Sullivan missed and went on to shock the whole arena by heading over to Hendry and shaking his hand, thus conceding the game.
For his actions, O'Sullivan was fined a sum of £20,800. In Gilbert's case a decision on his conduct is yet to be made, with the incident referred to the disciplinary arm of the WPBSA, where a financial punishment could follow.
