Saturday Night Live brought back an iconic character for the cold open on this week’s episode as Dana Carvey reprised his role as the Church Lady. Carvey’s religious talk show sketch aired on the show from 1986-1990 when he was a regular, and it has made sporadic appearances since.
This week, the Church Lady gave a recap of 2024, or what she called “the most satanic year in history.” Carvey dropped references to Hailey Welch, then had guests like Matt Gaetz (Sarah Sherman), Hunter Biden (former SNL star David Spade) and baseball player Juan Soto (Marcello Hernandez).
