A property in Sneinton has been left severely damaged after a fire broke out during the early hours of this (Saturday) morning.
Crews from London Road, Carlton, West Bridgford, Arnold and Stapleford all attended the blaze on Whittier Road, which was reported to Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service at 12.43am. A small number of nearby properties were evacuated and the fire was eventually extinguished at 2.35am.
Firefighters remained at the scene to damp down the property and an investigation into the cause will be conducted later in the day. News of the fire was first reported on the official Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service at 2.23am with the post reading: "We are at the scene of a fire in Whittier Road, Sneinton. The fire was reported to us at 00.43am this morning and fire engines from five stations are in attendance.
"These are from London Road, Carlton, West Bridgford, Arnold and Stapleford. Firefighters are currently tackling the fire and a small number of nearby properties have been evacuated."
A second tweet, posted at 2.38am, confirmed: "02.35am - the fire is now out. The property has been severely damaged.
"Firefighters remain at the scene damping down. A fire investigation will take place later in the morning."
