Changes are coming to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program that could affect both where recipients shop and what they can buy with their benefits.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture initially announced several SNAP-related nutrition initiatives on March 4, including plans for tougher retailer stocking standards and new food-purchase restrictions in Kansas, Nevada, Ohio, and Wyoming. Since that announcement, USDA has finalized the retailer rule and released additional information about when the state restrictions are expected to begin.
