Smyths Toys Superstores announces Stockport opening date

A new branch of Smyths Toys Superstores is opening at a retail park in Stockport this week. News of the arrival of the popular store was met with delight by parents back in January, as they'll no longer have to travel to the Smyths stores elsewhere in the region.

The retailer has taken over a unit previously occupied by H&M at Stockport Retail Park, formerly known as The Peel Centre. Doors will open at 9am tomorrow, Thursday, with celebrations continuing over Friday and Saturday.

On Friday youngsters will be able to meet Cocomelon's JJ and then on Saturday there will be appearances from Paw Patrol's Chase and Skye. The fun, which will also include a DJ and candyfloss, will run from 9am to 4pm.

The 18,000 sq ft store has been transformed with 'aisles stacked full of the latest and greatest range of toys, video games, outdoor, baby, and pre-school products'.

Stockport's branch will be the fifth Smyths in Greater Manchester, with stores already established in Oldham, Bury, Bolton, Salford and Wigan.

Store manager Chris Williams said: “We’re delighted to be moving to a brand new Smyths Toys Superstore in Stockport and are inviting everyone down to join us for the opening. There will be various giveaways and some great bargains you won’t want to miss out on so make sure you drop by."

Roger Wheeldon, director of development at Peel L&P Retail Parks, added: “There’s been a lot of excitement over the opening of Smyths Toys Superstore, and we know the store will be a very popular addition to our vibrant mix of offerings at our Stockport Retail Park. It will stock the latest and greatest toys and products will provide plenty of options to help create fun memories and spark imagination for little ones within our community here in Stockport and beyond.”

The new Smyths Toys Superstore marks another milestone for the retail park, which welcomed a new restaurant and drive-thru from Canadian coffee chain Tim Hortons last month. It was already home to the likes of The Range, Argos, Costa Coffee and TK Maxx.
