Smug killer Graham Dwyer has 'spring in step' after appeal boost

Smug Graham Dwyer had a “spring in his step” in prison yesterday as he sported a new, tight haircut, the Irish Mirror can reveal.

The 49-year-old – serving life for murdering Elaine O’Hara in 2012 – is a happier man on the A3 landing in the Midlands Prison following his victory at the European Court of Justice, sources said.

On Tuesday the top court ruled in favour of the twisted killer who challenged Ireland’s use of mobile phone data in his conviction. The decision was a significant legal win for the former architect in his bid to have his conviction overturned.

Dwyer is viewed as a loner within the prison, sticking to himself in recent days going about his work in a horticulture job.

As part of his day-to-day duties in a group of around 20 others, Dwyer helps grow and care for flowers which are either sold on or given to charity.

He takes care of other plants whilst maintaining the grounds of the jail and cutting the green area.

There are also polytunnels where Dwyer and his fellow lags grow fruit and veg.

Following the court ruling on Tuesday, he had initially shown no reaction but yesterday he was in cheerful form.

A source said: “Dwyer certainly had a spring in his step in the prison yesterday.

“He had a new haircut as well, done very tight.

“He has just gone about his daily tasks since and worked away in his job there in horticulture.

“He very much sticks to himself anyway and is viewed as a bit of a loner.

“But there’s no trouble whatsoever from him.”

Dwyer, in jail since his conviction in 2015, will now use the court decision in his bid to have his murder conviction overturned.
