BENGALURU: It is a dream for any Indian player to score a hundred at home. Smriti Mandhana was also waiting for that opportunity to celebrate the magical three-figure mark in front of Indian fans. Eleven years after making her white-ball debut, it came true on Sunday against South Africa women in the first ODI at M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Smriti, who has played 83 ODIs, scored a match-winning 127-ball 117 in her 36th home ODI, also sixth ton in one-dayers. The opener has ten half-centuries at home in ODIs with her best being 86 against England in 2018. In T20Is, her best (at home) remains the 79 against Australia in Mumbai, 2022 while in Test matches, a 74 against the same team last year at Wankhede is her best score.
