There's been a warning issued to those eating smoked fish in the UK after a listeria outbreak. The Food Standards Agency issued an alert after an unusual spike in cases of listeriosis.
An investigation into the cases is underway by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), Food Standards Agency and Food Standards Scotland. They say the outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes has been linked to smoked fish.
In particular, those who are vulnerable to Listeria infection are being warned of the contamination. This includes people who are pregnant and people with certain underlying conditions or who are taking medications which can weaken the immune system.
