Smell of weed led police to door of war veteran who tried to flush bags down the toilet

A war veteran who was given a second chance after being caught drug dealing in Liverpool returned to a life of crime after falling into money troubles.

Michael Kelly, who served in Afghanistan and Iraq, was caught red-handed when patrolling police officers "literally used their noses" and followed the smell of cannabis to his Stanley Road home in Bootle on November 16, 2022.

The 36-year-old appeared at Liverpool Crown Court today, May 24, where he pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs.
