A small Irish business owner has taken to social media after receiving a shocking electricity bill charging her nearly €10,000 for two months.
The owner posted an image of the sky-high bill asking “how in the name of God is this possible?” and said she is just a small coffee shop operating in Westmeath.
Her post read: “I got this electricity bill today, how in the name of God is this possible? We're a small coffee shop in Westmeath.”

There are thousands of people across the country being hit with huge household bills as the cost of living continues to shoot up - leaving many families pinching pennies at the end of the month.
People have been responding to the business owner online, with one writing: “The pain in the pit of my stomach for you, and everyone else who no doubt will receive similar over the coming days/weeks/months. There are no words…”
Another wrote: “Holy God Geraldine, I am speechless,” to which the business owner said: “Likewise, going to do my homework today to see what I can do about it.”
Meanwhile, many Irish households have been urged to submit their meter readings before energy bills skyrocket in a matter of weeks.
Irish SSE Airtricity and Pinergy customers have been warned to submit their readings to avoid overpaying for energy ahead of price increases.
SSE Airtricity customers are asked to submit their readings before October 1, while Pinergy customers only have until September 5.
SSE announced a hike in its prices last week, with the unit price of its electricity increasing by 45.2 percent and its gas by 46.3 percent from October 1.
According to the Irish supplier, this will lead to an extra €1.62 a day on electricity bills and an additional €1.40 a day on gas bills.
Dual fuel household bills are also set to rise by 37 percent, which will see customers pay an extra €3.02 per day.
The increases will see customers paying an additional €590 on electricity annually and €510 extra on gas annually.
Pinergy customers will also see electricity prices increase by 18 percent from September 5.
While its daily prepay meter charge will also rise by 24 percent and its daily standing charge by 30 percent.
The rise will impact around 27,000 customers across Ireland.
The change will see the average customer pay an extra €375 annually on their electricity bill.
