Stocks fell in afternoon trading on Wall Street Tuesday, weighed down by a big decline in tech heavyweights over concerns about persistently rising inflation's impact to their bottom lines.
The S&P 500 index fell 1.7% as of 12:02 p.m. Eastern. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 265 points, or 0.9%, to 31,613 and the Nasdaq fell 2.8%.
